With over 45 years of teaching experience, Larisa Lewis is one of the most accomplished and inspiring violin and piano teachers in the Charlotte area. She offers private violin lessons, and violin lessons for beginners, children, and adults, combining her expertise in both the traditional violin method and the Suzuki method. Ms. Lewis often uses a combination Suzuki–traditional approach, giving each student a personalized and well-balanced musical education.
Her one-on-one violin lessons focus on developing proper technique, posture, tone, and expression while providing valuable performance opportunities through studio performance classes, recitals, and community events. Ms. Lewis also helps parents and young students choose the correct violin sizes for kids, ensuring comfort and success from the very first lesson.
Ms. Lewis’s students have performed at renowned venues and earned over $80,000 in music scholarships under her guidance. They have received more than 30 awards at regional and national competitions, including the Denver Young Artists Orchestra Concerto Competition, MTNA State Competition, Rising Star Festival, AMTA Four Forms Festival, and Songbirds Youth Music Festival.
Before joining Performance Academy of Music, Ms. Lewis taught at the Lysenko Conservatoire and the Special Music School for Gifted Children in Odessa, Ukraine. She later founded her own successful studio in Colorado, where she served as a private violin teacher and mentor for more than two decades. As a member of the Aurora Music Teachers Association, she collaborated with educators to organize recitals, develop teaching strategies, and promote excellence in music education.
Ms. Lewis holds a Master of Music in Violin and Piano Pedagogy and Performance from the Nezhdanova Conservatoire and a Bachelor of Music from Odessa State Music College.
At Performance Academy of Music in Matthews, NC, Ms. Lewis continues to inspire students through her private violin lessons, beginner violin lessons, and advanced training programs.
